Newton, Newton County

One Road, One Exit, Twenty Minutes

Newton isn't the Newton County seat — that distinction belongs to Decatur — while Forest holds the seat of Scott County. Whatever the county lines say, the drive itself is simple: I-20 runs straight through on its way to Forest, with no state route to cut over from and no detour required. East on I-20, about 18 miles, roughly 20 minutes, no turns until the Forest exit puts you onto MS-35. Of everywhere in this catchment, this is about as uncomplicated as the drive gets: one road, one direction, one exit — and a copper sasquatch waiting outside when you arrive.

Twenty minutes is barely enough for one playlist, which makes this closer to a supply run than a day trip. Bring your MMCP card, since out-of-state cards don't work here. It's a short enough drive that there's little reason to put it off — plan around the Monday through Saturday hours, and remember the first-visit discount rewards showing up at all, not showing up from far away.
