The drive
Coming in from Newton County
Newton County sits close enough to Forest that most of its towns land inside a 20- to 35-minute drive. From Newton, it's a 20-minute, 18-mile run west on I-20 straight to Exit 88, then south on MS-35 to the dispensary. Hickory (30 minutes, 26 miles) and Chunky (35 minutes, 32 miles) make the same I-20 approach from farther east. Decatur, the county seat, covers its 30-minute, 22-mile drive west on state and county roads. Union's 35-minute, 25-mile trip runs south-west on state and county roads. Lawrence and Conehatta post the shortest times in the county at 20 minutes and 13 miles each, Lawrence coming up from the south and Conehatta down from the north-east on state and county roads.
Here's how long the drive to Forest takes from seven towns across Newton County.
Before you set off
What to bring
Bring your Mississippi Medical Cannabis Program patient or caregiver card and a valid photo ID; out-of-state medical cards aren't valid here, so only MMCP-registered patients and caregivers 21 and older can shop. The Forest Cannabis Dispensary takes cash and debit, and there's an ATM on site if you need it. First-time patients get 30% off, so it's worth making the trip count on your first visit.
